Edu-Xcursion Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre

On 4 March 2026, TERI, in collaboration with Harit by HCLFoundation, organized an EduXcursion to the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) under the Youth Climate Innovators Challenge (YCIC). The programme aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application by exposing students to cutting-edge bioinnovation ecosystems and their role in addressing challenges in climate, health, and agriculture.

The visit brought together 54 students from multiple colleges across Karnataka, fostering an interactive and collaborative learning environment. Participants gained insights into how innovative ideas are nurtured, tested, and scaled within structured incubation ecosystems, encouraging them to explore entrepreneurship and research-driven career pathways.

Dr. Sharon Priya Alexander, Program Manager–Health Tech at BBC, highlighted the importance of innovation-led solutions. The engaging session by Mr. Santhosh, Vice President at BBC, provided an overview of the centre's incubation programmes and startup support systems, offering practical insights into transforming ideas into viable solutions.

Specialized sessions covered key sectors, including agri-tech and health tech. Dr. Saravanan Ravi discussed sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient technologies, and emerging opportunities in agri-biotechnology. Dr. Bharathkumar Nagaraj highlighted advancements in health technology and research-driven innovation. Additionally, Ms. Prathika elaborated on academic partnerships, internships, and collaborative opportunities between institutions and BBC.

A guided tour of BBC's advanced facilities, including the MedTech Centre, Robotics Lab, Molecular Biology Laboratory, and Life Sciences Analytical Lab, provided hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as AI, machine learning, and biotechnology applications.

The EduXcursion successfully empowered participants with knowledge, inspiration, and practical insights, reinforcing the importance of youth-driven solutions for sustainable development.
